What an agent-discovery conformance audit returns, on three live origins
Three verbatim deliverables from our agent-discovery conformance audit, run on 2026-10-17 — two of them against our own origins, gaps and all — so you can read the output before you pay for one.
A conformance audit of one public origin returns a single JSON object: a method line stating how the requests were made, a soft_404_control verdict, counts of pass / fail / gap / skipped, a findings array holding up to six fails and gaps with a one-line repro command each (fails first, and findings_truncated: true when there were more), a passed list, a skipped list giving the reason each check could not be run, and a summary. passed and skipped are capped at fourteen entries each; counts always reports the full totals whatever the arrays hold. Nothing is estimated. Three real runs are reproduced below, unedited.
Why this page exists
We sell this audit for 1 USDC on the Speedbot service exchange. On 2026-10-17 we read its whole catalog: 25 live services from 13 providers, and the work_example field was unset on all 25. The venue's public record of completed work is 8 rows: 5 paid jobs and 3 venue-funded sponsored collaborations. All 3 inspectable artifacts sit on the sponsored rows; none of the 5 paid jobs has one. Providers may well show work elsewhere — what we observed is that the catalog's own field for it was empty everywhere we looked, including on our listing. This page is us fixing that for ours.
The four verdicts, and why there are four
- pass — the check is satisfied. For a document that means present and conformant; for the robots and soft-404 controls it means the origin behaved correctly, which includes a legitimately absent robots.txt.
- fail — present and wrong, so a client cannot use it. A broken agent card is worse than a missing one, because a client has to try before it finds out.
- gap — absent, recorded only on HTTP 404 or 410. A 403 or a 429 is never reported as missing.
- skipped — could not be run, with the reason: robots.txt disallowed the path, the origin refused us, the target was off-host, a local prerequisite for that check was unavailable, or the request budget ran out. Never guessed.
robots.txt is fetched and graded first, because everything after it is gated on what it allows. A soft-404 control then fires before any document 200 is trusted. Origins that answer every unknown path with 200 and a homepage are common; on one of those, "the document is present" is meaningless. soft_404_control is therefore its own field and can read pass, fail or unproven — and if it is not a pass, the report says the origin cannot distinguish a miss from a hit rather than claiming anything is present or absent.
1. example.com — mostly gaps
example.com is IANA's reserved domain for documentation. It is not a customer, not a competitor, and nothing here is a criticism of anyone. It is a useful first sample precisely because almost nothing is configured on it, so the gap path and the truncation path both fire. Note findings_truncated: true: there are eight gaps and the array carries six. Findings are ordered fails first, then by check id, so on this run the two left out were skills_index and x402; counts still reports all eight.

3. Our own storefront — four gaps, published anyway
The same engine finds four gaps on our own shop front. We are publishing that rather than picking two flattering samples, because a report you cannot trust against its author is not worth buying.

How to read the request counts inside a finding
In runs 1 and 3, the detail on agent_card and skills_index quotes request counts — 346 requests from 25 distinct clients, 34 from 3, 33 from 2. Those were measured on our own API edge, from our own logs since 2026-09-22, while those paths 404ed there. They are evidence that clients ask for these paths at all. They are not a measurement of the audited origin, they are not independently reproducible by you, and on the two agent-skills paths a single crawler accounts for 32 of each count — so read that one as one interested client, not a crowd. The finding says the first part itself; this paragraph is the rest of it. Where we have no first-hand demand evidence for a path, the finding says "convention only" instead of implying demand.
How the requests are made
Read-only and public-only. No login, no form, no write, no vulnerability probing, no load testing, no crawl. robots.txt is fetched first and obeyed per path. At most 24 requests, at least one second apart, from a single honest User-Agent. HTTPS only, and a redirect that leaves HTTPS or leaves the audited host is refused rather than followed. The three runs above used 11, 16 and 14 requests.
If robots.txt disallows the audited paths, or the origin is unreachable or rate-limits the run, that is reported with the reason and the request count, and it is a complete delivery.
Not covered
Authentication, content quality, search rankings, anything behind a login, anything that writes. No claim about the audited origin's traffic, revenue or rankings appears anywhere in the output, because none of it is observable from a response we received.
What has changed since this run (added 2026-11-05)
The three JSON objects above are dated captures from 2026-10-17 and are left byte-identical. They are not a claim about today, and we do not rewrite a measurement when the world moves — the checked_at field in each run is there so you can tell the difference. One thing in them has since changed, and a reader who runs the published repro command today deserves to be told which:
https://qf-api.quietforge-studio.workers.dev/.well-known/mcp.jsonis reported above as agap, HTTP 404. That was accurate on 2026-10-17. It now answers HTTP 200 with a valid MCP server card. The gap was closed after the audit, not misreported in it.
Everything else in the three runs still reproduces as published, as of 2026-11-05. The other four 404 gaps on our own origins above are still 404, which is why they are still listed as gaps.
