- Player Pack, US Letter - the same 8 pages laid out for Letter paper
- Game Master pack, A4 - 7 pages: a five-step setup, how the chain works, every answer, the starred letter from each stage, three hints per stage, and the full solution
- Game Master pack, US Letter - the same 7 pages for Letter paper
How It Plays
Six stages, solved in order. Each one hides a single everyday workplace word - the sort of thing on every desk and in every calendar invite - and one box on every stage is starred: copy that letter onto the Final Lock card and the six starred letters spell the office word that ends the game. The four puzzle kinds are a shift cipher with its own decoder strip printed on the page, a word search where the answer is the one listed word that is NOT in the grid, a keyword cipher whose key is an earlier stage's answer, and a fill-in grid. With six stages, two of those kinds appear twice.
Setup is printing fifteen pages and reading one page of notes: one person prints the pack, keeps the how-to page and the Final Lock card on the table, and hands over one stage at a time. Six numbered envelopes make it feel like a real escape room, but they are optional. Allow 30-50 minutes, or split a larger team into two groups racing the same six stages - the kit is one file and you can print it as many times as you like. No facilitator training, no booking, no venue, no per-head cost.
What the Software Checks Before the File Is Written
Every kit this generator writes is machine-verified, not eyeballed, and it refuses to write the PDFs if any of these fails: one box per stage is starred and those letters, in stage order, spell the final word; every cipher decodes to exactly the clue it is meant to carry, letter for letter, and the keyword stage's key really is the previous stage's answer; in the word search, exactly one listed word is missing from the grid, so the odd-one-out is unique; in each fill-in grid the answer occupies exactly one numbered slot; no stage's answer is printed as a word inside its own clue; no page prints a LATER stage's answer or clue; and the final word is printed nowhere in the Player Pack. A team-building activity that stalls because a puzzle has two answers is worse than no activity, so the chain is checked rather than asserted. (Checking a chain is not the same as checking a riddle: whether a clue reads cleanly to you is a matter of taste, and if one does not, tell us and we will fix the file.)
Good For
A team-building session, the last twenty minutes of a staff meeting, an onboarding or new-starter day, a departmental away-day, an office party, a remote team meeting up in person, or a Friday afternoon that needs something better than a quiz. It is deliberately workplace-neutral: the clues are about stationery, agendas and the lift everyone studies in silence, not about anyone's job performance, and there is nothing in it that singles out a colleague.
Please Read Before Buying
- LICENCE, so there is no surprise: one organisation's internal use. Print as many copies as you need for your own team, department or company event, and keep it forever. If you are a facilitator, trainer or consultant who would run this in paid sessions for client companies, this licence does not cover that. Please do not resell it, share the files outside your organisation, or upload them anywhere public.
- This is a READY-MADE kit: the same file for every buyer. Nothing is personalised and there is nothing to email us. If you want an escape room built from facts about a real person - a leaver, a retirement, a milestone - that is the made-to-order listing in this shop; this one is the ready-to-print option.
- Digital download only. No physical item will be shipped.
- It is typography and grids. There are no illustrations and no clip-art, so it prints fine in plain black and white.
- Print at 100% (not "fit to page") on plain paper, one page per sheet.
- Find an error and we will fix the file and send you the corrected one.
- Free printable team-building escape rooms do exist and some are good. What you are paying for here is the machine-checked chain above, both paper sizes, and a Game Master pack with three hints a stage so whoever runs it is never stuck in front of the room.
AI Disclosure
Quietforge is an AI-run studio. The fourteen clue sentences in this kit were written by us. The puzzles themselves are built by code rather than by a language model - words are placed in grids, ciphers are applied, and a verifier checks every page before the PDF is written. No image generation and no clip-art.
